The C119 Flying Boxcar was developed by the Fairchild C82 packet. It is a twin engine twin boom twin tail transport designed to carry cargo personnel litter patients and mechanized equipment. The C119 made its first flight on November 1947 and by the last year of its production more than 1000 C119 Flying Boxcars was produced. The C119s ability to carry a lot of cargo made it earned its nickname the Flying Boxcar. The USAF used the C119 Flying Boxcar extensively during the Korean conflict as their transport. The C119 also entered South Vietnam this time as the AC119G and AC119K which is capable of unleashing up to 6 000 per minute per gun. The C119 Flying Boxcar was also used by the 456th Troop Carrier Wing which was attached to the Strategic Air Command from April 25 1955 to May 26 1956. Other main variants of the Flying Boxcar were the EC119J which was used for satellite tracking and the YC119H Skyvan which had larger wings and tail. One of its variants which is still active today is the Jet Pack version which incorporates a 3 400 lbf Westinghouse J34 turbojet in a nacelle above the fuselage. When used as transportation the C119 Flying Boxcar could carry up to 62 fully equipped troops or a 30 000 pound cargo load. As for its other general characteristics the C119 Flying Boxcar can carry 5 crews its capacity is 62 troops its payload is 10 000 pound of cargo its length is at 86 ft and 6 inches its wingspan is at 109 ft and 3 inches its height range is t 26ft and 6 inches its wing area is 1 447 square feet its empty weight is at 40 000 pounds its loaded weight is 64 000 pounds and its maximum take off weight is 74 000 pounds.

The ERJ145 is a regional jet manufactured by Embraer a Brazilian aerospace company. Family members of the Embraer include the ERJ 135 ERJ 140 and ERJ 145 as well as the Legacy business jet and the R99 family of military aircraft. The ERJ 145 is the largest of the group. Each jet in the series is powered by two turbofan engines. The family s primary competition comes from the Canadair Regional Jets. The ERJ145 could accommodate 50 passengers in a three abreast seating configuration and it has a range of about 2500 km. In late 1991 the Embraer ERJ 145 design was frozen now with rear mounted engines. It did keep some features from the Brasilia such as the three abreast seating (2+1). The first flight was on August 11 1995 with the first delivery in December 1996 to Expressjet then the regional division of Continental Airlines (and spun off in 2002 as a separate company ExpressJet Airlines NYSE: XJT). Expressjet doing business as Continental Express is by far the largest operator with 255 of the nearly 1000 ERJ 145 in service. The second largest operator is American Eagle with 107 ERJ 145 aircraft. The Brazilian military operates the (Embraer) EMB145 under the designation C99A. It also operates the R99 models A and B which are both derived from the EMB145. Embraer retains the EMB prefix when referring to its military models. Since mid 2004 the ERJ145 is also assembled in China by Harbin Embraer.

The Boeing F/A18E Super Hornet is a carrierbased multimission strike fighter that entered service with the United States Navy (USN) in 1999. It is a larger and more advanced version of the night strike F/A18C/D Hornet. The Super Hornet provides the battle group commander with a platform that has range endurance and ordnance carriage capabilities comparable to those of the retired A6 Intruder. Ordered from McDonnell Douglas by the USN in 1992 the Super Hornet first flew in November 1995. It is informally referred to as the Rhino to distinguish it from earlier model legacy Hornets. Initial production began in 1995. Flight testing started in 1996 and ended in 1999. Testing involved 3 100 test flights covering 4 600 flight hours. The aircraft passed the Navys operational tests and evaluations in February 2000 and has replaced the A6 Intruder S3 Viking and KA6D. The Super Hornet is capable of performing a broad spectrum of roles including day/night strikes with precisionguided weapons antiair warfare fighter escort reconnaissance forward air control close air support suppression of enemy air defense (SEAD) maritime strike and airtoair refueling. The Navys Strike Fighter Squadron 115 was the first unit to bring their Super Hornets to combat. On November 6 2002 in support of Operation Southern Watch two F/A18Es conducted a Response Option strike on two surfacetoair missile launchers at Al Kut and an air defense command and control bunker at Tallil Air Base. It was the first time 2 000pound JDAM bombs were dropped from the F/A18E in wartime. During Operation Iraqi Freedom the Super Hornet flew close air support strike escort SEAD and aerial refueling roles.
