Question by Chris K: Is swimming the best cardio for lowering body fat percentage? If so, how many meters per day should I swim?
I’m 6’2-6’3 215ish pounds and I’ve gained 30 pounds in muscle mass over the last 7-8 months, but I’m around 16% body fat and I want to be near 9% so my abs will be ripped. Is swimming the best way to lose this body fat over running?
If so, how many meters should I be swimming each day? I mainly only do front crawl and breast stroke. Any other suggestions help. Thank you.
Answer by nzrasta To lose body fat % if your body building, you should do quick short sharp cardio work like intervals to lose the body fat.
Swimming I “think” (not 100% sure) burns more as compared to cycling and running if your going at a constant aerobic pace so if your going to do long and slower workouts, swimming would be the best.
If you are fairly good at swimming already, join a masters swim squad (you have to wake up early in the mornings like 5am to join in these) because you will swim much more distance as compared to yourself.
If you don’t haver that much experience in swimming and you can only swim 200m or less without stopping and gasping for breath, I’d say skip the swimming and do running intervals instead or rowing machine at the gym. Simply because swimming is all about technique and if you have poor technique, you will find it very hard to get a decent workout in at the beginning.
If you practice lots and get a coach then definitely swimming but if your just going to swim by yourself with no help, I’d recommend staying away from swimming and doing another form of cardio insted.

Question by : How many soccer balls should I have for practice?
I am about to start coaching a youth soccer team (U-14). I
need to know how many soccer balls I should have to use during practice.
Answer by Eshlin Vedan Hi Nick,
It depends on how many players you have and what drills you intend on carrying out. If your practice session is just a kickoff then one ball should be sufficient. If you want to practice free- kick, passing drills etc than more because you will probably have to carry out the drills simultaneously with different people depending on how many players you have.
Question by paulmurphy42: How many different cricket teams can be chosen from a list of 17 players?
How many different cricket teams can be chosen from a list of 17 players? My book says 12,376 but doesn’t show me how to do it.
How do I do it without using a calculator, please? Many thanks. I know people today use calculators but this book was written years ago so how did people do it without them? Thanks.
Answer by S J L There are 11 people on a cricket team, so this asks “how many different combinations of 11 elements can be chosen from 17 elements?”
17C11 is another way of writing this.
The expansion of nCm is n! / [m! (n - m)!]
So you have 17! / [11! (6)!]
= 17 x 16 x 15 x 14 x 13 x 12 / (6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2)
= 17 x 4 x 14 x 13
= 12376. Easy multiplication without a calculator.

Question by Tracy J: How many sports are estimated to be played in the United States?
I need to cite an article that has some sort of statistics on this topic. Any statistic like: how many sports are offered to students in school, or how many sports can be seen on television throughout the year.
Answer by VanMan6 I would check out the website for the National Federation of High Schools to see what they list, as well as check out the 51 state high school associations (Iowa has two) to see what they sanction. As far as what’s on TV, try searching for the Neilsen Ratings organization, as it will show you what we watch.

Question by me: How many calories does swimming burn compared to other cardio?
The calorie counters on the machines I’ve used tell me that rowing burns the most calories, then the stair climber, then the treadmill, then the eliptical, and then the stationary bike (if those calorie counters are accurate). How many calories do I burn swimming compared to those other activities? A coach I know told me that swimming doesn’t burn very many calories because the cool water prevents the body from heating up the way it does with other activities, is he right?
Answer by Thoai L Calories is a big subject when it comes to weight loss. We need to know 3 definitions: the number of calories in our food, the number of calories a certain activity uses up every 60 minutes, and last but not least our own personal daily limit of calories. The sole thing that clearly showed results for me was wu-yi tea, it can be seen in the resource box underneath, they have a small number of free trials in stock, it was highlighted in Reader’s Digest and USA Today. I worked off twenty five pounds, it clearly does produce results!
